‘Criminal’ killed in Narayanganj ‘gunfight’

A suspected criminal was killed in a "gunfight" with the members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) at Burma Stand in Siddhirganj upazila of Narayanganj early Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Delu alias Master Delu, a top terrorist of the area, according to police.
Delu and his cohorts were taking preparation to commit a robbery at Barma Stand at night, M Sharafatullah, officer-in-charge of Siddhirganj Police Station, said.
Being tipped off, a team of Rab conducted a drive there.
However, sensing presence of the elite force members, Delu and his associates opened fire at the law enforcers, forcing them to retaliate that triggered the gunfight around 3:30am, the OC said.
At one stage, Delu sustained bullet injuries.
Later, he was whisked off to a private clinic where the doctors declared him dead.
Delu was wanted in 11 cases filed with several police stations including for robbery, drug peddling and arms smuggling.
