Star Online Report

The holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi, marking the birth and demise of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh), will be observed across the country on December 13 with due religious solemnity.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the national moon sighting committee as the moon of the Rabiul Awal, an Arabic month, was not sighted anywhere in the country today, said a press release issued by the Islamic Foundation.

The committee held the meeting at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in Dhaka this evening with Zakir Ahmed, joint secretary of the religious affairs ministry in the chair.

On this day in 570, the 12th of Rabiul Awal of the Hijri calendar, Muhammad (pbuh) was born in Makkah of Saudi Arabia with divine blessings and messages of peace for mankind.

He also passed away on the same day.

The Muslims across the country will join special prayers marking the day in a befitting manner.

Various Islamic and socio-cultural organisations, mosques and madrasahs and Islamic Foundation will observe the day with elaborate programmes, including milad mahfil, discussion and Qurankhwani.
