Five murdered in four districts

Five people were killed in separate incidents in four districts during the Eid holidays, report our correspondents.

In Dinajpur, an 80-year-old unidentified woman died at Birampur Upazila Health Complex on Friday night.

Police said villagers rescued the woman from beside a road at Durgapur village around 11:30pm and took her to the health complex.

Dr Abbas Uddin of the hospital said the woman succumbed to her injuries after an hour of her admission.

Meanwhile, a man was killed by his rivals in Sadar upazila allegedly over an extra marital affair on Wednesday.

The deceased, Khademul Islam, 40, son Didarul Islam, was a resident of Ranipur village in the upazila.

Quoting victim's family members, police said Khademul went out of his house on Tuesday and did not return home.

On early Wednesday, locals found Khademul's body burning at a field near Belbari and informed the police.

Away in Patuakhali, a housewife was killed allegedly by her husband and in-laws in Dumki upazila on Thursday.

The deceased is Salma Begum, 26, wife of Matiur Rahman Babu of Lebukhali village in the upazila.

Quoting victim's family members, police said Babu and his family members beat up Salma mercilessly allegedly over a trifling matter, leaving her unconscious.

Later, they took Salma to Patuakhali General Hospital where the doctors declared her dead.

In Pirojpur, a man was killed allegedly by his brother's son in-law over a family feud at Nesarabad upazila on Wednesday.

The deceased, Abdur Rahim, 50, was resident of Suterbari village in the upazila.

Police said victim's brother Abdur Rob marries his daughter off with one Belal Hossain, 22, of the village, who hacked Rahim over a family feud.  

In Bogra, unidentified criminals killed a local BNP leader in Sadar upazila on Friday.

The deceased, Nizam Pramanik, 48, of Baghopara area was the vice-resident of ward No 9 under Gokul union.

Quoting deceased's family members, police said Nizam went missing while he was returning home on Thursday night.

Early Friday, locals spotted Nizam's body from near the Eidgah field and informed the police, Sub-inspector Julhaz Hossain of Sadar Police Station said.
