Graft case conviction rate only 37%: TIB

The conviction rate in graft-related cases stood at 37 percent in last three years, says a report of Transparency International Bangladesh.

The rate is very small as the survey shows 68 percent people of the country became victims of corruption between the years of 2013 and 2015.

"The capacity of investigators and faulty process of filing graft cases are among the reasons," Shahzada M Akram, a researcher of TIB, said while reading out a review report on the Anti-Corruption Commission today.

"There were 9,810 cases the ACC filed in a year against those after receiving complains," Akram said at a press conference.

The survey was conducted in six months from November 2015.
