Housewife beaten to death in Lalmonirhat

A housewife was killed allegedly by her husband and son over a family feud at Mahishkhocha village in Aditmari upazila on Tuesday night.

The deceased is Jarina Begum, 43, wife of Abdul Khaleque of the village.

Police arrested Abdul Khaleque 55, a village doctor, and his son Jasim Uddin, 22, the same night.

Police quoted villagers as saying that Jarina had an altercation with Khaleque around 8:00pm over purchasing a saree. At one stage of altercation, Khaleque along with Jasim beat up Jarina mercilessly, leaving her dead on the spot.

Hearing the news, locals rushed to the spot and caught the killers. They confined the duo to a room and informed the police.

Being informed, police went to the spot and arrested Khaleque and Jasim. They later sent the body to Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.

The arrestees were yesterday produced in a court that sent them to jail.
