Idol vandalised at Ctg temple
A day into the attack on five temples in Brahmanbaria, unknown criminals vandalised an idol of Hindu goddess Durga and looted valuables from a temple in Hathazari upazila of Chittagong Monday night.
The incident came to light yesterday morning when Dulal Dey, the priest of Dashmahavidya Temple in Chowdhury Hat area, went to the temple and found its door broken.
The miscreants looted gold jwellery and cash from the temple's vault, reports our Chittagong correspondent quoting Rimon Muhuri, general secretary of Hathazari upazila Puja Udjapon Committee.
On information, Komol Dey, a sub-inspector of Hathazari Police Station, visited the spot.
The temple was also vandalised and looted two years ago in the similar fashion, said Rimon Muhuri, general secretary of Hathazari upazila Puja Udjapon Committee.
"We want exemplary punishment of the criminals to stop repetition of such heinous acts," Rimon told The Daily Star.
