Inland water vessels service resumes
Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) on Sunday morning withdrew the suspension on the operation of all water vessels across the country as the weather condition started to improve gradually.
Joint Director of BIWTA Guljar Hossain said the suspension was withdrawn at 8am in the morning, nearly 12-hour after it was imposed due to inclement weather.
Several launches on 38 routes left Sadarghat Launch Terminal in the morning, Guljar added.
According to the Met Office, the deep depression over the northeast bay and adjoining area moved north-northeastwards further, weakened into a depression before making landfall and started to cross Chittagong coast near Sitakunda in the morning.
Maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to lower local warning signal from No four to local cautionary signal No three.
