Man arrested for illegal sale of OMS rice

Police arrested a man for black-marketing rice meant for Open Market Sale (OMS) in Ghatail upazila on Saturday night. 

The arrestee is Khorshed Alam, 45, son of Amzad Akand of Deopara village.

A police team, acting on a tip-off, intercepted a truck in the area, seized 50 sacks of rice from the vehicle and arrested Khorshed around 9:00am, said Officer-in-Charge Kamal Hossain of Ghatail Police Station.

Three others, however, managed to escape arrest, the OC added. Police produced Khorshed before a court in the afternoon that sent him to jail.
