One killed over land dispute

A youth was murdered and his brother was injured critically in a family feud over land dispute yesterday at Nazirpur upazila in the district.

The deceased is Suruzzaman Sheikh, 26, and the injured is Badal Sheikh, 22, sons of Sarwar Hossain Sheikh of Raghunathpur village in the same upazila.

The clash began immediately after a team of village arbitrators, who came to resolve the dispute, left the house saying that the land would be measured in dry season as the land is muddy.

At one stage of quarrel around 9:30am, Mehedi Sheikh, his father Mosharraf Hossain Sheikh and mother Mary Begum began to stab Suruzzaman and his brother Badal indiscriminately with a sharp weapon.

Suruzzaman succumbed to his injuries on the way to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital while critically injured Badal is undergoing treatment in the hospital.
