Prime accused held in Mymensingh town

The prime accused in the case for killing madrasa student in Mymensingh town on June 22 was arrested from Teenkona Pukurpar area of the town on Sunday night.

The arrestee is Kefayetullah-bin-Nasir, 18, son of Dr Nasir Uddin of Akua Chowrangi Intersection area of the town.

ASP Shamim Ara Begum of Rab-14 in Mymensingh said after quizzing Kefayet's parents for hours, a team of the elite force raided the area around 8:30pm and arrested him.

Police later produced Kefayet before a Mymensingh court that sent him to jail.

Earlier, madrasa student Tauhidul Islam Taru, son of Sirajul Islam of the same area, was shot dead allegedly by his classmate Kefayet over a previous enmity at Akua Chowrongi Intersection on Wednesday night.

Quoting victim's family members, police said Kefayet called Taru out of his house around 10:30pm, took him to his residence and shot him dead.
