Teacher jailed for stalking girl student

A mobile court here yesterday sentenced a teacher to imprisonment for six months for stalking his girl student in Jamalganj upazila of Sunamganj.

The convict, Mostofa Rakib Bhuyan, 27, of Moheshpur village, is an assistant teacher of Alhaj Jhunu Mia High School in the upazila.

The victim said the teacher stalked her on her way to and from school every day, so it was very hard for her to attend class.

She filed a complaint to the upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) of Jamalganj regarding the matter on Monday, she added.

 Police arrested Rakib from the school and produced him before a mobile court yesterday.

UNO Taslima Ahmed pronounced the verdict after Rakib made a confessional statement.
