Village cop assaulted, none held

Activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir on April 5 beat up a member of village police for assisting patrol police on Gaibandha-Palashbari road.

A case was filed with Palashbari Police Station on April 6, police are yet to arrests anyone.

After a petrol bomb attack on a passenger bus in Burirghar area on February 7 that killed eight people, patrol teams of police and BGB have increased their patrol duties to avoid any further incidents on the highway, said Mosharraf Hossain, additional superintendent of police in Gaibandha.

A group of 4/5 Shibir men attacked village police member Rabilal Rabidas, 45, of Amalagachhi village, while he was performing his duty at Shakoa bridge on April 5.

Rabilal filed a case with Palashbari Police Station against four people, including three by names, said Mojibar Rahman, officer in-charge of the police station.
