Ajay Devgn replaces Anup Soni as ‘Crime Patrol’ host

Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn is set to make his hosting debut with “Crime Patrol”, taking over from longtime presenter Anup Soni in the popular crime series.

Devgn confirmed his association with the show by sharing a teaser on Instagram, hours after reports emerged that he would replace Soni as host.

In the promo, Devgn warns viewers that perpetrators of crimes are not always strangers and can sometimes be people close to the victims.

“We are taught from childhood to beware of strangers and to keep our homes locked at night. But in many cases today, the culprit is someone you know. They know your address, have your keys and even have a seat at your dining table,” Devgn says in Hindi.

He adds that the upcoming episodes will revisit cases that have shocked the country, with the aim of raising awareness rather than creating fear.

“This time on ‘Crime Patrol’, we will bring you cases that shook the country. This is not to scare you, but to make you aware of what is happening. This time, I will be with you,” he says.

According to IANS, Devgn has already filmed 15 episodes of the series. A source told the news agency that whether the actor continues hosting beyond those episodes will depend on audience response and ratings.

Before confirming his involvement, Devgn had teased an upcoming announcement through a cryptic video shared on social media on Sunday.

“Sometimes, there are things that bother us from within. And today, there is a truth before us that has left me stunned. I will bring it to you soon,” he said in Hindi.

Although Devgn did not mention “Crime Patrol” in the video, the post drew attention following reports of his new role on the programme.

Actor Rajesh Tailang has also reportedly joined the upcoming season and is expected to host additional episodes. The number of episodes featuring Tailang has yet to be finalised.

The changes signal a new chapter for the long-running crime franchise, which has been closely associated with Anup Soni for years. Soni became one of the programme’s most recognisable faces during his lengthy tenure as host.

Devgn’s association with “Crime Patrol” also follows a career featuring numerous portrayals of police officers and law-enforcement figures. From “Gangaajal” to the “Singham” franchise, the actor has frequently appeared in stories centred on crime, investigation and justice.
