Chorki secures streaming rights for Shakib Khan-starrer ‘Rockstar’
Popular OTT platform Chorki has officially joined “Rockstar”, the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha release starring Shakib Khan, as its exclusive streaming partner.
The announcement was made on Sunday (May 10) through the verified Facebook pages of both “Rockstar” and Chorki, further fuelling online buzz surrounding the film. Interest in the project has grown sharply since the release of its first teaser on May 5, with the teaser gaining traction across social media platforms at home and abroad.
Directed by Azman Rusho, “Rockstar” features Shakib Khan in the role of a professional musician rather than the action-driven characters often associated with the actor. For the role, he reportedly underwent a significant physical transformation and weight loss.
Chorki chief executive officer Redoan Rony said the platform has consistently aimed to support quality productions. “The combined effort of theatres and OTT platforms has already shown audiences how far a film industry can grow,” he said in a statement.
Rusho, who previously worked as a musician, said the story draws from his own experiences and from the lives of real-life rock musicians. He added that Chorki’s commitment to quality content made the collaboration a natural fit.
Executive producer Ajoy Kumar Kundu said the partnership was intended to help the film reach wider audiences both in Bangladesh and internationally after its theatrical run.
Produced by Sun Motion Pictures Limited, the film features songs written and composed by Ahmed Hasan Sunny, with music direction by Jahid Nirob. Nusrat Maati writes the screenplay, while Ayman Asib Shadhin and Samiul Bhuiyan pen the dialogues.
The streaming release date on Chorki has not yet been announced.
