Christopher Nolan unveils first trailer for ‘The Odyssey’
The first full trailer for “The Odyssey” has been released, marking Christopher Nolan’s return to cinemas after the Oscar-winning “Oppenheimer”.
The film, based on “The Odyssey”, stars Matt Damon as Odysseus, the King of Ithaca, tracing his long journey home after the Trojan War. Anne Hathaway plays Penelope, while Tom Holland appears as their son Telemachus.
The ensemble also includes Robert Pattinson as Antinous, Charlize Theron as Calypso, John Leguizamo as Eumaeus and Jon Bernthal as Menelaus, alongside Benny Safdie, Himesh Patel, Mia Goth and Zendaya.
The trailer offers glimpses of large-scale battles and mythological encounters, including the cyclops Polyphemus, as Odysseus struggles to return to a kingdom in decline after a 20-year absence.

Shot entirely on IMAX cameras, the film reportedly carries a budget of around $250 million, making it Nolan’s most expensive project to date.

In a recent interview, Nolan described Homer’s epics as foundational to modern storytelling, comparing them to contemporary superhero narratives. “It’s the Marvel of its day,” he said, pointing to the enduring appeal of gods, heroes and mythic conflict.
The film is scheduled for release on July 17, the same date as “Spider-Man Brand New Day”, setting up a high-profile box office clash.
