‘Didi No 1’ returns with Swastika as new host
Tollywood actress Rachna Banerjee has been the face of Zee Bangla’s popular reality show “Didi No 1” for nearly a decade and a half. Her association with the programme was so strong that for many viewers, Didi meant Rachna.
However, that chapter is now coming to a close. Actress Swastika Mukherjee will take over as host of the show in its new season.
In a recently released promo, Zee Bangla officially introduced Swastika as the new Didi of the programme. The change is not limited to the host alone. The new season will also see several changes to the show’s format.
Where previously four contestants took part in the game, the new season will feature 10 participants at a time. New game segments and surprises are also being added. The broadcast time has been changed as well. The show, which was earlier aired in the afternoon, will now be broadcast at 10:15 pm local West Bengal time. The new season begins on June 29.
Explaining her departure, Rachna Banerjee said,“I had work pressure. But it is also true that the decision to reshape the programme was the channel’s. I have nothing to say about that decision.”
Meanwhile, Swastika Mukherjee’s arrival has already generated curiosity among viewers. It remains to be seen how audiences respond to the show’s new format, presentation style and rules.
