Argentine football icon Lionel Messi, widely regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all time, has teamed up with Tom Holland for the promotion of the upcoming “Spider-Man: Brand New Day”.

The collaboration comes shortly after it was revealed that “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” will become the world’s first feature film shot entirely with the ScreenX format in mind. ScreenX is an advanced cinematic technology that extends the film beyond the main screen onto the side walls of the auditorium, creating a 270-degree panoramic viewing experience. Rather than watching the action only on the front screen, audiences are surrounded by the film on three sides, making sequences feel significantly more immersive.

For a superhero such as Spider-Man, whose aerial swings through towering cityscapes are central to the story, the format promises to heighten the sense of movement and scale. As Spider-Man soars between skyscrapers, the surrounding walls of the theatre will also display the cityscape, giving viewers the impression that they are flying alongside him.

To introduce this new cinematic experience, Holland appears alongside Messi in a newly released promotional video.

The video opens with Peter Parker enjoying a cup of coffee while talking on the phone in a cafe. Suddenly, Messi walks into the cafe using a tracker to search for Spider-Man. Parker is visibly stunned and exclaims, “You… Messi?” The cafe owner, however, remains completely unfazed, casually replying, “Yes, that’s Messi.”
Parker then asks Messi to wait before stepping outside. Moments later, he returns dressed as Spider-Man. With a playful smile, the superhero asks the football legend whether he is afraid of heights.

The commercial concludes with Spider-Man swinging through a skyline of towering buildings while carrying Messi across the city, showcasing the immersive possibilities of the ScreenX format.

The promotional video quickly went viral across social media, with many fans calling the unexpected pairing of Messi and Spider-Man one of the year’s most memorable marketing campaigns.

“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” is scheduled for worldwide release on July 31. Before that, Holland will return to cinemas in “The Odyssey”, directed by Christopher Nolan, which is set to arrive on July 17. Both films are among the most anticipated releases of the season.
