Best known for her breakthrough on Closeup 1, singer Beauty has spent more than two decades building a successful music career. Over the years, she has performed on countless stages at home and abroad and continues to stay busy with new music, with her latest song released only recently.

Away from music, however, Beauty spoke to The Daily Star about another lifelong passion—football. A devoted Brazil supporter, she shared the story behind her love for the five-time world champions.

“I’ve supported Brazil ever since I was a child,” she says. “Football has always been my favourite sport. Back then, almost everyone played football. Growing up in the village, even young boys and girls would join in. That’s how my love for the game began. I simply loved watching Brazil play.”

According to Beauty, her admiration for Brazil stems from two important influences.

“The first is my father,” she explains. “He has always loved football and has always supported Brazil. Listening to him talk about the team, I grew up hearing stories about the legendary Pelé. Through my father, I became fascinated by Brazil.”

The second reason takes her back to her school days.

“We had a story about Pelé in our school textbooks,” she recalls. “Reading about the football magician left a deep impression on me. I learned about his extraordinary achievements and discovered why he was affectionately known as the ‘Black Pearl’. Realising how much he had contributed to football only strengthened my admiration for Brazil.”

Beauty has been following this year’s FIFA World Cup closely and says she has enjoyed watching teams from across the globe.

“Every team that qualifies for the World Cup earns its place through quality football,” she says. “Each side has its own style of play. Brazil and Japan, in particular, have produced some very enjoyable football, and I really enjoyed watching them.”

Asked how optimistic she is about Brazil’s chances of lifting the trophy, Beauty remains hopeful but realistic.

“Every supporter wants their own team to become champions,” she says. “But in the end, only one team can win. Of course, I want Brazil to be champions. Let’s wait and see what happens. We can always hope.”

She also believes Brazil have maintained their trademark rhythm despite the challenges within the squad.

“Neymar hasn’t been able to play as freely because of the challenges he’s faced,” she says. “He’s a star player, and it would have been even better if he could have featured in every match. Even so, Brazil still has a rhythm and identity in the way they play. I hope that rhythm carries them to something special.”

Although firmly behind Brazil, Beauty has nothing but admiration for Argentina’s captain.

“Lionel Messi is one of the greatest footballers ever,” she says. “A player like Messi comes along perhaps once in a century. I support Brazil, but I enjoy watching every team, and I always love watching Messi play.”

While football has captured her attention during the World Cup, music remains her greatest priority. Beauty continues to work on new releases throughout the year, and her latest single, “Ami Harayechhi Jare”, was released recently.

“I’m always working on new songs,” she says. “Music keeps me busy throughout the year. I want to keep creating songs with my listeners in mind.”
