People call me Mehreen now: Keya Payel

In a career spanning a few years, Keya Payel has acted in numerous dramas and also worked as a model. Currently, she has gained widespread recognition and audience appreciation for her role as Mehreen in the hit television serial “Eta Amaderi Golpo”. Alongside this, the actress has already begun shooting for Eid projects.

Directed by Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Raz, “Eta Amaderi Golpo” is currently one of the most talked-about serials, featuring an ensemble cast, including Keya Payel.

Speaking about the drama’s popularity, Keya Payel told The Daily Star, “I have acted in many dramas, but I have never received such a response for any of them, especially for a serial. I never thought the drama would become this popular or that it would generate such a strong response.”

In the drama, she plays the character of Mehreen. “Wherever I go, people call me by the name of the drama,” she said, continuing that everyone refers to her as Mehreen. “That is a big achievement for me. When people call me by my character’s name after a drama becomes successful, I understand that they are watching my work.”
 

When asked whether she had ever received such a response for any serial before, she replied, “No. I never imagined that a drama could bring this level of appreciation.”

Speaking about her co-actors, Keya Payel said, “We have been shooting for a long time, and I had a wonderful time working with everyone. I worked alongside Irfan Sajjad, Sunerah Binte Kamal, and Khairul Basar. We’ve developed a great friendship, and I truly enjoyed working on this project.”

Regarding director Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Raz, she said, “I have worked with Raz Bhaia before, but this is my first time doing a serial with him. He is a very hardworking and talented director. He understands what the audience wants. Especially in ‘Eta Amaderi Golpo’, he has shown his directorial magic.”

Recently, Keya Payel received an award at the Meril Prothom Alo Awards for her performance in “Eta Amaderi Golpo”. She won the Best Actress award in the viewers’ choice category. She said, “Honestly, it feels great to receive such recognition. I would like to thank director Raz Bhaia.”

When asked what kind of roles attract her the most, she said, “I am drawn to roles that offer scope for acting and allow me to take on challenges.”
 

How much does she prepare for a character? “I think about it a lot and prepare thoroughly before going to the shoot,” she said.
