Syed Abdul Hadi at 86: Channel i celebrates day-long special programmes
The legendary singer Syed Abdul Hadi, one of the brightest stars in Bangladeshi music, celebrates his 86th birthday today (July 1). Revered for a career spanning decades, Hadi’s voice has given timeless expression to love, nature, patriotism, humanity and the many emotions of life, earning him a cherished place in the hearts of generations of listeners.
To mark the occasion, Channel i has arranged a day-long line-up of special programmes dedicated to the living legend.
The celebrations began at 7:30 am with “Gaan Achhe Ekhane”, a special musical presentation featuring 12 of Syed Abdul Hadi’s timeless songs. Planned by Shykh Siraj, hosted by Luipa and produced by Iftekhar Munim, the programme featured performances by singers Imran, Sabbir, Apu Anam and Atik.
At 12:05 pm, the channel aired a special edition of “Taroka Kothon”, hosted by Sanjida Rahman. The programme featured Syed Abdul Hadi alongside lyricist Rafiquzzaman, singer Khurshid Alam and singer Abida Sultana. Through their conversations and reflections, viewers gained insight into lesser-known stories and memorable moments from Hadi’s remarkable life and career.
Later in the day, at 5:15 pm, a documentary titled “Golpo Ache Ekhane”, directed by Shykh Siraj was aired. In a candid and heartfelt conversation, Syed Abdul Hadi reflected on his childhood, the beginnings of his musical journey, the evolution of Bangladeshi music, contemporary artistic practice and his hopes for the next generation of performers.
The special programming offers audiences a fitting tribute to an artiste whose songs have become an enduring part of Bangladesh’s cultural heritage.
