TV channels, Shilpakala Academy mark Nazrul’s 50th death anniversary
Today (August 27), corresponding to 12 Bhadra, marks the 50th death anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam. Television channels and Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy have arranged special programmes commemorating the poet and his legacy.
NTV
NTV will air the drama “Gobhir Nishithe” at 1:00pm. Based on Nazrul’s songs, the drama was adapted for television by Pantha Shahriar and directed by Naim Imtiaz Neyamul. The cast includes Intekhab Dinar and Badhon, among others.
At 6:45pm, the channel will broadcast the musical programme “Antore Tumi Acho Chirodin”, featuring Nazrul’s devotional songs performed by Khairul Anam Shakil, Yakub Ali Khan, Lina Taposi Khan, Yasmin Mushtari, Ferdous Ara and MA Mannan. The programme is produced by Humayun Faridi.
Singers Rituraj and Priyanka Biswas will perform on “Music Night” at 11:30pm.
Duronto TV
Duronto TV will air “Gaaner Pakhi Bulbul”, featuring popular songs written by Nazrul, at 8am and again at noon. Debosmita Kundu, Anandi Ghosh, Ahnaf Nabi Arik, Tanchai Bala Tithi and Tashfia Tasnim Gungun have performed in the programme.
“Sokal Belar Pakhi”, featuring dramatised presentations of Nazrul’s poems by young performers from Kalparekha, will air at 8:30am and 5:30pm. The programme is directed by Farida Lima.
Channel i
Channel i will dedicate several programmes throughout the day to Nazrul’s poetry, music, life and philosophy.
The programming will begin at 7:30am with a special episode of “Gaan Diye Shuru”, featuring some of the poet’s timeless songs. A special episode of “Taroka Kothon” will follow at 12:30pm.
At 1:05pm, the channel will air a special programme featuring songs from films associated with Nazrul, directed by S Arman.
“Bangla Mayer Damal Chhele”, a biographical film on Nazrul directed by Rafiqul Bari Chowdhury, will air at 3:30pm, exploring different aspects of the Rebel Poet’s life and creative legacy.
At 6:30pm, Ferdous Ara will perform in the special musical programme “Nirob Keno Kobi”, directed by Rezaul Karim Kajol.
The day’s programming will conclude with “Nazrul O Prokriti” at 10:15pm. Planned, directed and hosted by Mukit Majumdar Babu, the programme will explore the relationship between nature and humanity in Nazrul’s works.
Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy
Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy began its commemorative programmes on August 25 with “Ami Hobo Sokal Belar Pakhi” at the National Theatre Hall. The cultural programme featured children and young performers presenting dance, music and recitations.
A group of 50 young artistes performed the songs “Dao Shourjo Dao Dhoirjo” and “Shukno Patar Nupur Paye”, while another group of 50 presented a dance performance to “Projapoti, Projapoti”. Rafid Zahin Prachya, Sabrina Jahan Senjuti and Rabiul Islam Shanto were among the performers.
The academy will also hold a two-day discussion and cultural programme titled “Amare Debo Na Bhulite” on August 27 and 28, celebrating Nazrul’s enduring body of work.
