Popular actor Ziaul Faruq Apurba is set to showcase another side of his artistry as he takes the stage for a solo musical concert today, August 8, at the Jamaica Performing Arts Center in New York.

Titled “Apurba Live Musical Night”, the concert is being organised by Dreambox Entertainment. Apurba will perform for nearly two hours, presenting 10 songs, including popular tracks by some of his favourite singers as well as songs he has lent his voice to in television dramas.

Although best known for his acting, Apurba has been singing for years. He has performed at gatherings with friends and various intimate events, while several television dramas he has acted in also feature songs in his voice.

Ahead of the concert, popular singers Kumar Bishwajit and Fahmida Nabi extended their best wishes to Apurba.

“Apurba is very dear to me and someone I deeply admire. Just as he has captivated audiences with his acting, my prayer is that he will now win everyone’s hearts through his singing as well,” said Kumar Bishwajit.

He added, “I will always stand alongside those who uphold Bengali music and our true culture, both at home and abroad. I wish Apurba’s entire event every success.”

Fahmida Nabi also wished him well, saying, “Apurba, I wish you all the very best. You act beautifully, and you sing just as beautifully. I really enjoy listening to you. If I were in New York right now, I would definitely go to your concert. I’m very happy that you are going to sing. I hope the event is a great success. All the best.”

Speaking to The Daily Star over the phone from the United States, Apurba said he had reached out to several of his favourite singers before the concert.

“Ahead of my solo concert, I spoke over the phone with many of my favourite singers and received their love and good wishes. Talking to them has helped inspire and motivate me,” he said.

Apurba said singing has always been one of his favourite pursuits alongside acting.

“I have always loved singing alongside acting. I have sung at gatherings with friends and at various intimate events. Several of the dramas I have acted in also feature songs in my voice,” he said.

Reflecting on the upcoming concert, Apurba said he was grateful for the opportunity to perform in the United States.

“For this event in the United States, I have been given the opportunity to perform with great respect and honour. I will try to perform songs by some of my favourite singers. I may also sing one of the songs I have performed for a drama,” he said.
