Mou recites poetry in new music video paying tribute to her late father

Celebrated model and dancer Sadia Islam Mou has added a new dimension to her artistic career by performing poetry in a music video for the first time.

Mou lends her voice to a spoken-word segment in a newly arranged version of “Sonar Kathi Rupor Kathi”, a classic song originally performed by her late father, renowned singer Saiful Islam. The music video was released on Sunday to coincide with both Mou’s birthday and Father’s Day.

The song features vocals by fashion designer Biplob Saha. Originally written by lyricist Naim Gohor and composed by legendary musician Anowar Parvez, the track has been reintroduced with a contemporary arrangement while preserving its nostalgic appeal.

The new musical arrangement was created by Rajon Saha. The video was shot by Anik Chanda and edited by Tushar.

Speaking about the project, Biplob Saha said the release was planned as a tribute to both Mou and her late father.

“Sadia Islam Mou is one of the most respected names in Bangladesh’s cultural sphere. Since her birthday and Father’s Day fell on the same occasion, we deliberately planned this project as a special gift for her. The song has been reimagined as a tribute to the memory of the late Saiful Islam,” he said.

He added that the music video is intended to portray the emotional bond between a daughter and her father through music, memory and poetry.

“This is not just a song; it is an artistic expression of love, remembrance and respect. It is also the first time Mou has recited poetry in a music video. Her performance brings an added emotional depth to the project,” he said.

Known for her successful career in modelling, dance and acting, Mou’s participation in the project has generated interest among fans eager to see a different side of the cultural icon.

The music video premiered on the YouTube channels of  Bishworang and Biplob Saha on Sunday evening. It is also available on Bishworang’s official Facebook page.
