Meghan Markle eyes acting comeback with 'The Gentlemen'

Meghan Markle is reportedly in early talks to join the third season of Netflix's “The Gentlemen”.

The potential casting comes shortly after reports that the Duchess of Sussex is considering a return to acting following her move back to the UK. Her role in the Guy Ritchie series has not been revealed, and no contract has been signed.

“The Gentlemen”, which has not yet been officially renewed for a third season, stars Theo James as an aristocratic soldier who inherits his late father's estate and discovers that it is home to an underground cannabis empire. The first season became a hit for Netflix, while the second season is scheduled to premiere on September 3.

Markle's potential involvement would mark a return to a scripted television project after she largely stepped away from acting following her marriage to Prince Harry in 2018.

She is best known for playing Rachel Zane in the legal drama “Suits”, appearing in the series for seven seasons between 2011 and 2018.

Markle already has a production relationship with Netflix through Archewell Productions, the banner she runs with Prince Harry. Their projects for the streamer include her lifestyle series “With Love, Meghan” and the docuseries “Heart of Invictus” and “Harry & Meghan”.

Representatives for Markle and Netflix declined to comment on the casting talks.

The reports also come after Markle and Prince Harry announced that they would return to the UK with their two children for an extended period, following six years of living in California.

Earlier on Friday, Australian outlet News.com.au reported that Markle had been offered a role in an upcoming UK-based project. Sources close to the Sussexes did not deny the report but said further details were being kept private.

If the “The Gentlemen” discussions progress, the series would be among Markle's first major scripted acting projects since her departure from “Suits”.

She is also set to make a cameo as herself in the upcoming Amazon MGM comedy “Close Personal Friends”, which stars Brie Larson and Lily Collins.

Deadline Hollywood was the first to report Markle's potential involvement in “The Gentlemen”.
