Celebrated singers Runa Laila and Baby Naznin are set to appear together for the first time on BTV’s long-running magazine programme “Anandamela”.

For the special Eid-ul-Azha edition of the programme, Runa Laila will perform her beloved classic “Ei Brishti Bheja Rate Chole Jeo Na”, while Baby Naznin will present one of the defining songs of her career, “Kal Sararat”.

According to the organisers, “Anandamela” has remained a cherished part of Eid entertainment for generations, with each edition aiming to bring fresh and distinctive arrangements for viewers. Although both artistes have appeared separately on the programme before, this marks the first time they will share the same episode.

Speaking about the programme, Runa Laila said festive television productions always generate heightened audience interest. Keeping that in mind, she chose to re-record one of her most popular songs, believing it would fulfil the expectations of many listeners.

Baby Naznin said, “When audiences eagerly wait for a programme like this, it becomes important to present one’s best work. That is why I chose ‘Kal Sararat’ for ‘Anandamela’. Even after all these years, the appeal of the song has not faded. I am personally delighted to perform it again and hope the programme leaves a lasting impression on viewers.”

The organisers also revealed that alongside performances by Runa Laila and Baby Naznin, the programme will feature dance performances, dramatic segments, and various other arrangements. Renowned model, dancer, and actress Sadia Islam Mou will appear with her dance troupe in a special performance. Actors Mehazabien Chowdhury and Sabila Nur will also participate in another dance segment.

Meanwhile, singer Ferdous Wahid has re-recorded the popular 1980s pop track “Emon Ekta Ma Dena” for the programme. Actress Pori Moni and several other stars have also taken part in different segments of the show.

The programme will be hosted by actor Afran Nisho. “Anandamela” has been planned and directed by lyricist Kabir Bakul and jointly produced by Afroza Sultana, Md Hasan Riad, Yasir Arafat, and Yasmin Akter. The programme is scheduled to air on BTV on the first day of Eid-ul-Azha.

Recently, Runa Laila drew attention for her playback performance in the film “Prince”. Her song “Jala Jala”, sung alongside young artiste Pritom Hasan, quickly gained popularity among listeners. Earlier, she also returned to the spotlight through her fusion rendition of “Dama Dam Mast Qalandar” on Coke Studio Bangla.

Similarly, Baby Naznin has continued to impress audiences with several recent performances. After returning to BTV following a two-decade hiatus, she appeared in the solo musical programme “Priyotomo Ektu Shono”, where she performed popular songs including “Du Chokhe Ghum Ashe Na”, “Kal Sararat”, “Modhuchandrima Ei Rate”, “Sara Banglay Khuji Tomare”, “Darun O Borshay Nodi”, “Priyotomo Ektu Shono”, and “Bondhu Tumi Koi”. The newly recorded versions of these songs were warmly received by listeners.
