Veteran actress Anjana Rahman, a beloved figure in Bangladeshi cinema, passed away early yesterday in the capital’s Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital.

Both Rozina and Anjana have worked on several movies together. Most notably, their films “Abhijan” and “Matir Maya” left an impression on their audiences. During the filming of these movies, they developed a strong bond. Rozina fondly reminisced about the special moments they shared while working on “Abhijan.”

Veteran actor Prabir Mitra has been hospitalised due to severe health issues. Facing complications from oxygen deficiency and other ailments, he was admitted to a private medical facility in the capital on December 22. His younger son, Sifat Islam, confirmed the news to the daily Prothom Alo.

"Dasyu Bonhur" marked the debut of the recently deceased actress Anjana in the film industry. Sohel Rana played the lead role, and also produced the movie. The film scored massive success at the theaters. Following this, they co-starred in "Jadunagar," which also did well. Anjana and Sohel Rana became a popular on-screen pair, collaborating on numerous films.

Before her acting career, Anjana was recognised as a celebrated dancer. In 1976, she began her journey in Dhaka cinema with the film Setu, directed by Babul Chowdhury. However, her first released film was “Dasyu Bonhur”, directed by Shamsuddin Togor, opposite actor Sohel Rana. Following its success, Anjana rose to prominence, acting opposite nearly all the leading actors of Dhaka cinema during her prime.

Farhan was scheduled to shoot for a drama today, Saturday, but the shoot has reportedly been cancelled.

Filmmaker Saraf Ahmed Zibon’s debut venture, “Chokkor 302”, has secured clearance for theatrical release. Backed by government funding, the film has successfully obtained certification from the Bangladesh Film Certification Board without requiring any edits.

Prime Video has unveiled an exciting new teaser for the eagerly awaited second season of the series “Paatal Lok”. The teaser features Jaideep Ahlawat reprising his role as the bold and foul-mouthed cop, Hathi Ram Chaudhary.

Tanvir Hasan’s much-anticipated film “Moddhobitto” debuts in theatres today, marking the first movie release of the year. The director had earlier revealed to Prothom Alo that the film would see its premiere this month. On Wednesday, he reiterated the announcement via a Facebook post, confirming that the movie would indeed hit the big screens on Friday (January 3).

The film is set to hit Pakistani theatres today (January 3), as confirmed by the director himself through a Facebook post. Released during last Eid-ul-Fitr, the movie has already toured several countries, including the United States, Canada, and Australia. In Pakistan, the distribution is being handled by the American company Avail Entertainment.

Anjana Sultana, a prominent actress and dancer with a career spanning over 300 films, is currently under intensive care. She has been placed on ventilation support as part of her treatment. For the past two days, she has been admitted to PG Hospital after her condition deteriorated. Earlier, she had been receiving medical care at another hospital in the capital. However, the severity of her health required an urgent transfer.

Sariful Razz and Bidya Sinha Mim are teaming up once again for a movie. The duo will be seen on-screen in the film “Danob”. 

Justin Baldoni is pushing back against allegations of sexual harassment levelled by his co-star Blake Lively by filing a defamation lawsuit against The New York Times. On Tuesday, Baldoni accused the publication of releasing an article that he claims was “filled with inaccuracies, distortions, and selective omissions” while leaning on what he described as Lively’s “one-sided account.”

Based on the novel "Bildakini" by renowned author Nuruddin Jahangir, the film was directed by Fazlul Tuhin. It tells a powerful story of female strength and the liberation of motherhood. The film stars Mosharraf Karim and West Bengal actress Parno Mittra in the lead roles. This is Parno Mittra's second film in Bangladesh, following her appearance in Mostofa Sarwar Farooki's "Doob".

On the first day of the year (yesterday), actor Ador Azad and actress Prarthana Fardin Dighi officially unveiled the teaser of their upcoming film. This project, directed by Alok Hasan, is titled “Tagar”.
