9th International Drum Festival kicks off in Egypt
The 9th edition of the International Festival for Drums and Traditional Arts was inaugurated at the Beir Youssef Theatre at Saladin's Citadel in Egypt, Missouri.
The weeklong exhibition kicked off with the slogan "Drums For Peace" was inaugurated by Ines Abdel-Dayem, Minister of Culture of Egypt. The programme will showcase participants across 43 countries including Bangladesh.
Monirul Islam, Bangladesh's ambassador to Egypt, lead a team of Bangladeshi expatriate artists to participate in the international festival. Apart from highlighting the historic culture and heritage of our country, he will also be taking part in festival workshops as well.
Monirul Islam talked about the long friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
"Bangladesh-Egypt friendship has a long history and the Cairo-Dhaka exchanges and cooperation are truly special. The International Drums and Traditional Arts will further open the doors of the cultural arena of the two countries," said Monirul Islam.
The festival will run from until May 28.
