Arijit Singh announces retirement from playback singing
In a surprise announcement that has left fans stunned, celebrated Indian playback singer Arijit Singh has declared his retirement from taking new playback assignments. Sharing the news through a post on his verified Facebook page today, Arijit thanked listeners for their unwavering love over the years and confirmed that he is stepping away from playback singing.

“Hello, Happy New Year to all. I want to thank you all for giving me so much love all these years as listeners. I am happy to announce that I am not gonna be taking any new assignments as a playback vocalist from now on. I am calling it off. It was a wonderful journey,” the post read.
Arijit Singh, who redefined contemporary Hindi film music with his emotive voice, was last heard in several recent releases, including romantic and soulful tracks across Hindi and regional cinema, continuing his consistent presence on film soundtracks until the end of 2025.
Over the years, Arijit delivered some of the biggest hits in Indian music, including “Tum Hi Ho”, “Channa Mereya”, “Raabta”, “Agar Tum Saath Ho”, “Kesariya”, “Shayad”, “Phir Le Aya Dil”, and “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil”, among many others. His songs not only dominated charts but also became emotional touchstones for an entire generation.
