'Dui Vuboner Dui Basinda' composer Md Shahnewaz no more

Renowned composer and music director Md Shahnewaz has passed away. He died today, (Saturday) at 3:30 pm while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Canada. The news of his death was confirmed to The Daily Star by his nephew, filmmaker Golam Sohrab Dodul. He was 77.
Shahnewaz joined Bangladesh Television (BTV) in the early 1970s and began working as a music director there in 1977. Over the course of his career, he composed more than 2,000 songs across various media.
Among the many popular songs set to his tune are “Jibanananda Hoye Shongshare Ajo Ami”, “Dui Vuboner Dui Basinda”, “Asha Chilo Mone Mone, Ek Noyone Hoy Na Kandon Dui Noyone Kande”, “Dome Dome Matir Putul Ki Kore Je Chai”, “Tumi Ki Sei Tumi”, “Ekti Bajrakontho Theke Bangalir Utthan”, “Sonamukhi Sui Diye Selai Kora Kaj”, “Sukher Shongga Ki Jodi Ami Jantam”, “Shobai To Shahjahan Hote Chay”, and “Chander Palki Chore Aslo Shobar Ghore Aslo”, among many others.


His contributions to Bangladeshi music remain significant, and his melodies continue to resonate with listeners across generations.
