Cultural Affairs Minister K M Khalid was present as the chief guest while Professor Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique, Board of Directors of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), presided over the programme.

"Bangabandhu had a deep affection for culture and he played an important role in instilling and spreading the values and importance of culture. In order to honour his legacy, we need to implement and ensure that many such social and cultural programmes are organised so that the young generations can be rooted to their culture," said Professor Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique.

"Bangabandhu had a dream of creating 'Shonar Bangla', and for that, we need 'Shonar Manush'. The young generation needs to be engrossed with vast knowledge of liberation war and cultural heritage," added the professor.

"Anima Roy is one of my favourite Rabindra Sangeet artistes, and her songs truly touched my heart. The musical programme has been arranged in order to honour Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. He believed that a nation will never be fully democratic until and unless their country enriches their cultural assets," said K M Khalid.

"Shafiqul Islam Selim, Executive Director of 'Amra Surjomukhi' recently lost his wife, but he is still working hard to ensure that audiences and the young generation can partake in the vast cultural programmes of our country, instead of faltering into the wrong path."

Anima Roy performed a total 15 songs at the programme. She started off with the songs,"O Amar Dsher Mati", "Tomaye Gaan Shonabo", and "Pran Chay Chokhhu Na Chay". The noted singer also performed songs, according to requests of the attendees, during the event.
