A R Rahman turns 55, daughter Khatija gets engaged ahead of birthday
Oscar-winning Indian music composer A R Rahman turns 55 today. Ahead of his birthday, his eldest daughter, Khatija, got engaged to audio engineer Riyasdeen Shaik Mohamed on December 29.
Rahman works predominantly in Tamil and Hindi films. In 2010, the Indian government awarded him the Padma Bhushan, the nation's third-highest civilian award. He is the only Indian composer to win two academy awards and is one of the most respected composers in the current era.
Rahman started his career in 1992 with the Tamil movie "Roja", which was directed by Mani Ratnam and for the beautiful track in his very first movie, the star composer received the national award for his composition. As Rahman turns 55 today, his fans are hosting different celebrations online.
At the start of 2021, Rahman worked on the movie, "99 Songs", for which he also wrote the story and screenplay. The songs of this musical were instant hits, and later that year, Rahman won hearts with the song, "Param Sundari", which got shortlisted for the Grammys.
The song was from the movie, "Mimi" starring Kriti Sanon, and it was among the biggest hits of last year. Rahman also ventured into OTT platforms and scored for the series "House of Secrets".
He also produced a hit album for the Anand L Rai directorial movie "Atrangi Re", and scored for the Tamil anthology "Navarasa". He ended 2021 on a beautiful note with his daughter's engagement. He is also the composer and a co-producer on internationally acclaimed Bangladeshi filmmaker Mostofa Sarwar Farooki's "No Land's Man".
The star composer looks forward to a great 2022 with him signing on to more than 18 films.
