A talented singer’s appeal to save his cancer-stricken mother

Shahrukh Kabir, a young singer from Bangladesh, released a song titled, "Jonmo Kotha" on Victory Day 2017. He earned high praise from renowned singer-songwriter Kabir Suman for his powerful voice. "Jonmo Kotha" became quite popular upon its release. 

Shahrukh recently made an earnest appeal to everyone to save his cancer-stricken mother, Hosne Ara Begum, on social media. According to doctors, for the time being, the treatment of his mother will cost  at least Rs 10 lakh. Shahrukh, who hails from Dinajpur, is the only child of his parents.

He brought his family from Dinajpur to Dhaka in 2015. He earns a living by making music. Unfortunately, at the moment, Shahrukh cannot afford his mother's treatment as his savings of the last one year have run out. 

Shahrukh has been trying to take care of his mother to the best of his abilities. He opened up about this battle on social media, asking for everyone's help. "Life and death are in the hands of Allah, but it seems that my mother does not have much time on her hands," he wrote. 

National Film Award-winning music director Emon Chowdhury composed Shahrukh's song, "Jonmo Kotha". He made a heartfelt appeal to everyone on his Facebook friend list to help out the young artiste. 

"Shahrukh Kabir is an immensely talented singer of this generation who works with utmost passion, hard work, and dedication. During this challenging phase of his life, let's come forward to support his mother, who is currently battling cancer. Let us all contribute as much as we can," wrote Emon. 

According to Shahrukh, his mother underwent a critical surgery in 2006, and was diagnosed with cancer in 2013. At the time, alongside a surgery, she was sent to three chemotherapy sessions. 

In 2014, she underwent another surgery, and four rounds of chemotherapy in India. In 2016, she had a surgery in Bangladesh, and another one in 2020. In January 2021, doctors suggested another surgery, but her physical condition worsened, and she was given another round of chemotherapy.
