The Script guitarist Mark Sheehan no more
Mark Sheehan, co-founder and guitarist of the Irish rock band The Script, has died.
The 46-year-old passed away on Friday after suffering from a brief illness, according to the statement issued by the band.
They posted the statement on their social media page, describing the guitarist as a "much beloved husband, father, brother, band mate, and friend."
They also asked the fans to respect the family and bandmates' privacy at this crucial time.
Sheehan's contemporaries in the entertainment industry were quick to pay tribute to him.
Laura Whitmore, an Irish television presenter, wrote on Instagram, "Thinking of you all at this time."
Irish pop duo Jedward paid tribute on Instagram, saying, "Everyone in the Irish music industry and worldwide mourn your loss RIP Mark, such a talented musician from The Script, one of the most iconic Irish groups of our generation."
Sheehan was born in Mount Brown, Dublin, on October 29, 1976, and was married to Reena Sheehan, with whom he had three children. He was a singer, songwriter, and guitarist who had a lifelong love of music.
From 1996 to 2001, he was a member of the band Mytown, which included The Script's frontman, Danny O'Donoghue.
The Script was formed in Dublin in 2001, with Sheehan on guitar, O'Donoghue on vocals, and Glen Power on drums.
