A number of films are gearing up for release during Eid-ul-Fitr. As part of a special series tracking the progress of upcoming Eid releases, filmmakers are sharing updates about their projects. Yesterday, director Mehedi Hasan Hridoy spoke about his film “Rakkhosh”.

Hridoy, who directed “Borbaad” starring Shakib Khan last Eid-ul-Fitr, has now teamed up with Siam Ahmed for “Rakkhosh”, which is currently in its final stages of preparation.

“The shooting of ‘Rakkhosh’ has been completed, and we are now working on post-production. Editing and dubbing are going on simultaneously. We hope to complete everything on time and submit the film to the Film Certification Board,” said the director.

Speaking about the promotional plan, Hridoy said an announcement video and a still image of Siam Ahmed have already been released. The official poster is expected this week, followed by the teaser and songs in phases.

Filming for “Rakkhosh” began in Dhaka last December, with a significant portion later shot in Sri Lanka. Hridoy noted that the cast members were highly dedicated during production and that the film also includes several surprises, from casting choices to an item song.

Describing the story, the director said the film centres on a “crazy love story” combined with family drama. He added that the film contains significantly more violence than “Borbaad”.

Siam Ahmed stars opposite Sushmita Chatterjee in the film. According to the director, their on-screen chemistry feels natural and authentic.

With several films expected to release this Eid, concerns have emerged over securing enough cinema halls. However, Hridoy said he views the situation positively.
“A number of strong films are coming this Eid,” he said, mentioning Shakib Khan’s “Prince”, Afran Nisho’s “Domm” directed by Redoan Rony, Raihan Rafi’s “Pressure Cooker”, and “Bonolota Express” featuring Mosharraf Karim and Chanchal Chowdhury.

Referring to the success of Tanim Noor’s “Utshob” last Eid, Hridoy said audience expectations are now higher following “Borbaad”. He added that Siam Ahmed has also delivered notable performances in recent films, expressing confidence that “Rakkhosh” will attract significant attention during the Eid season.
