Akshay Kumar apologises to fans for promoting pan masala brand
Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has recently decided to step away from his deal with a pan masala brand, after being widely criticised by his fans on social media.
Recently, Akshay was seen in an advertisement, promoting a pan masala brand. The ad also featured Shah Rukh Khan and Ajay Devgn. The advertisement instantly went viral, receiving negative comments from netizens.
After receiving backlash, the actor not just decided to terminate the contract with the company, and also released an apology on social media.
"I am sorry. I would like to apologise to you, all my fans and well-wishers. Your reaction over the past few days has deeply affected me.While I have not and will not endorse tobacco, I respect the outpouring of your feelings in light of my association with Vimal Elaichi," read his post. "With all humility, I step back. I have decided to contribute the entire endorsement fee towards a worthy cause.The brand might continue airing the ads tilI the legal duration of the contract that is binding upon me, but I promise to be extremely mindful in making my future choices. In return I shall forever continue to ask for your love and wishes."
Ajay Devgn also recently released a statement, defending stars that endorse pan masala brands.
