He was the most powerful actor of our time: Raisul Islam Asad
Humayun Faridee and Raisul Islam Asad spent a long time together for Dhaka Theatre. The two have acted together in theatre, television dramas and films. They have many happy memories, and on Humayun Faridee's birthday, Raisul Islam Asad reminisced the late great actor.
I have shared a very good bond with Humayun Faridee since we worked together in Dhaka Theatre's play "Shakuntala". Our friendship began in the mid-70s and lasted till Faridee breathed his last.
Faridee was the most powerful actor of our time. However, we failed to utilise him properly.
At a certain point in his career, he left all other mediums and just focused on films. He has always inspired me and this inspiration has empowered by artistic journey.
Words fall short if I look to describe Faridee's acting. His screen presence was unparalleled.
Be it happiness, joy or sorrows, we have always stood by each other. I could not hold on to him as he left us, but I never stopped missing him for one stance.
Faridee was very friendly. We used to hang out all year long, except for Eid. We used to rehearse together and the practice session would often end in 'addas'.
Mornings, evenings, afternoons and nights—I have lost count of the days we have spent together. Even fatigue failed to set us away from enjoying our friendship.
Our never-ending conversations, rehearsals, and lots of moments of laughter – I miss it all. He was pure from the inside, simple and as innocent as a child.
