BOND 24/ SPECTRE CAST ANNOUNCED
Ah, Bond details. We've been expecting you. In a live press event, it was revealed today that Daniel Craig's next James Bond adventure will be called Spectre - which, as fans of the series will know, is a name loaded with history. SPECTRE is an acronym which stands for 'Special Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion' - the name of a nefarious organization which became one of Bond's oldest and most long-running adversaries. Headed by the white cat owning, Blofeld, SPECTRE appeared in From Russia With Love, Thunderball, You Only Live Twice, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, Diamonds Are Forever and For Your Eyes Only. The press release also announced a relatively complete cast list - with the addition of one particularly mysterious character. The cast is as follows: Daniel Craig as Bond, Rory Kinnear as Tanner, Ben Whishaw as Q, Naomie Harris as Moneypenny, Ralph Fiennes as M, Dave Bautista as Mr. Hinx, Monica Bellucci as Lucia Sciarra, Léa Seydoux as Madeleine Swann and Christoph Waltz in an unknown role.

READY PLAYER ONE
Nolan has been offered the directing gig for the film adaptation of the novel Ready Player One by author Ernest Cline. The book follows a teenage boy who takes part in an extravagant treasure hunt against powerful corporations, in order to win the fortune from the will of the virtual reality game OASIS. It became a New York Times bestseller after its publication and has been well-received by many literary pundits. WB acquired the film rights during a bidding war in 2010, but little progress has been made on Ready Player One's development since that time; other than hiring scribe Zak Penn (The Incredible Hulk) to rewrite earlier drafts of the screenplay by Cline and Eric Eason. Nolan, if he signs on, may well revise the script, since he generally has a hand in writing the films he directs. While the story is pretty Nolan-esque, the tone of Ready Player One is a departure of sorts. Elements such as the exhaustion of Earth's fossil fuels and the motives of powerful corporations would be ripe for serious social commentary, but things probably wouldn't be as grim as Nolan's other films. Phrases like “ridiculously fun” and “large-hearted” have been used to describe the narrative – so at first blush, it'll be lighter than what moviegoers are used to seeing from Nolan.

Star Trek 3 Loses Roberto Orci as Director
The Enterprise was in need of a new captain in order for the third installment to reach theaters by 2016 (Trek's 50th anniversary). After many rumors about who would take the reigns, Trek screenwriter Roberto Orci was tapped to call the shots, marking his first job as a feature film director. He's long been part of the creative process for Star Trek 3 and had the stamp of approval from his cast members, but now we've learned that he won't be the movie's helmsmen. Orci has stepped off as director, but will continue to serve as a producer for the project. No reasoning was given, but it puts Paramount in a precarious situation, as they were on track to begin rolling the cameras in spring 2015 in order to meet that pre-established 2016 target date. Obviously, the hunt is on to find a replacement quickly. In their writeup, Deadline also says that fan-favorite Edgar Wright (The World's End) is among the candidates on the studio's shortlist of possible directors.
