Hand of Fate

The British actor Anthony Hopkins, who shot to fame for his portrayal of Hannibal Lecter in the film 'Silence of the Lambs' was delighted to know that he was given a leading role in the film adaptation of the book 'The Girl from Petrovka' by George Feifer. After signing the contract, Hopkins travelled to London to buy a copy of the said book, but in vain. He tried several bookshops but there wasn't any copy in any of the store. While waiting for his train home at the Leicester Square underground, Hopkins noticed a book on a bench. And it was The Girl from Petrovka! This is not the end of the story, though. Two years later, in the middle of filming, Hopkins was visited by George Feifer, who mentioned that he did have a copy of his own book. He added that he had lent his copy to a friend who lost it somewhere in London. Hopkins handed Feifer the book he had found, asking, “Is this the one? With the notes scribbled in the margins?” The writer could only nod in astonishment.
