12 more children die of measles, measles-like symptoms; toll now 336
Twelve more children died from measles and measles-like symptoms in 24 hours (till 8:00am today), taking the total number of confirmed and suspected measles deaths to 336.
Of the 12, one is a confirmed measles death while the rest are suspected cases, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
For all latest news, follow The Daily Star's Google News channel. With the one death, the number of confirmed measles deaths rose to 57. The death was reported from Dhaka division, according to the DGHS.
With the 11, the total number of suspected measles deaths is now 279.
Among the 11, five were reported from Dhaka division, two from Rajshahi division, while one each from Khulna, Barishal, Sylhet and Mymensingh divisions.
During the same period, 286 new confirmed cases were reported, raising the total number of confirmed cases to 6,208.
Besides, the DGHS recorded 1,238 new suspected measles cases in 24 hours, bringing the total number of suspected cases to 45,498.
