Death toll from measles, symptoms rises to 451 with 12 deaths in a day

Twelve more children died from measles and measles-like symptoms in 24 hours (till 8:00 am today), taking the total number of confirmed and suspected measles deaths to 451.

Of the 12, four are confirmed measles deaths, according to Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

With the four deaths, the number of confirmed deaths rose to 74. Of the deaths, two were reported from Dhaka division and one each from Chattogram and Barishal divisions, according to DGHS.

With eight more suspected measles deaths reported during the same period, the total number of suspected deaths is now 377.

Of the latest deaths, three each were reported from Dhaka and Chattogram divisions, and one each from Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions.

During the same period, 111 new confirmed cases were reported, bringing the total to 7,416.

Besides, the DGHS recorded 1,192 new suspected cases in 24 hours, bringing the total to 55,611.
