Deaths from measles, symptoms cross 500-mark as 13 more die in 24 hours

Deaths from measles and measles-like symptoms have crossed the 500-mark as the country recorded 13 more deaths in the 24 hours ending at 8:00am today.

With the latest fatalities, the death toll from measles and measles-like symptoms rose to 512, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Of the total deaths reported in the last 24 hours, one was recorded as a confirmed measles death, while 12 were recorded as suspected measles deaths.

Confirmed measles deaths: Half the children were too young for shots

The number of confirmed deaths rose to 86, while suspected deaths rose to 426.

During the same period, 165 new confirmed cases were reported, raising the total number of confirmed cases to 8,494.

Besides, the DGHS recorded 1,967 new suspected cases in 24 hours, bringing the total number of suspected cases to 62,507.
