Seven more children die from measles and measles-like symptoms
Seven more children died from measles and measles-like symptoms in the 24 hours leading up to 8:00am today, taking the total number of confirmed and suspected measles deaths to 439.
Of the seven deaths, one was confirmed as measles, while six were suspected cases, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
With the latest fatality, the number of confirmed measles deaths rose to 70. The death was reported from Dhaka division, the DGHS said. With six suspected measles deaths reported during the same period, the total number of suspected deaths rose to 369.
Of the latest suspected measles deaths, four were reported from Dhaka division and one each from Mymensingh and Chattogram divisions.
During the same period, 155 new confirmed cases -- the highest ever recorded in a single day -- were reported, raising the total number of confirmed cases to 7,305.
Besides, the DGHS recorded 1,363 new suspected cases in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of suspected cases to 54,419.
