The heart behind the label: PRAN-RFL redefining safe food for every home
Whether it’s the juice in a child’s lunchbox, the spices in a family kitchen, or a snack shared on a journey, PRAN-RFL Group has become a silent member of our households. Founded by Major General Amjad Khan Chowdhury, the PRAN-RFL Group began its journey in 1981, with PRAN’s commercial food production starting in 1992, driven by a vision: to create value from Bangladesh’s agricultural produce while improving the livelihoods of farmers. Today, that vision has transformed seasonal harvests into trusted products, carrying Bangladesh’s promise of quality and safety to consumers in 148 countries.
A Dream Rooted in the Soil
To prevent seasonal fruit waste, PRAN bypassed middlemen to source directly from farmers. Today, this network supports 120,000 contractual farmers across 22 districts. These partners receive high-yielding seeds, bio-fertilisers, Vermi Compost and hands-on training from 100 agronomists and a buyback guarantee. For the farmers, the buyback guarantee serves as a vital safety net.
Safety as an Act of Care
At PRAN-RFL’s 40 industrial sites, the focus is on the consumer’s trust. Food is an act of care, Kamruzzaman Kamal, Director at PRAN-RFL Group, emphasises. To ensure every product is as safe as home-cooked food, PRAN utilises world-standard automated machinery to minimise manual contact.
Inside the factories, hygiene is rigorous. Workers undergo regular health screenings and, in high-sensitivity zones, must use physical or dry showers before entering the floor. Therefore, PRAN has built an integrated quality management system aligned with internationally recognised standards, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, HACCP, GMP, BRCGS, FSSC 22000 and multiple Halal certifications, alongside USFDA compliance and Kosher certification for specific markets.
Manufacturing with a Conscience
PRAN is growing green. Committed to achieving Net Zero by 2025, the group is expanding renewable energy and operates Bangladesh’s largest plastic recycling plant, processing 69,000 tonnes annually. Additionally, Effluent Treatment Plants at all factories ensure industrial wastewater is treated and reused.
A Promise for Your Table
Looking ahead, PRAN is moving beyond Food Security toward a future of Food Safety. With export earnings of PRAN-RFL Group reaching USD 570 million, the “Made in Bangladesh” label is now a mark of excellence worldwide. Through world-class labs, globally recognised certification and state-of-the-art production facilities, PRAN continues to ensure that “Farm to Fork” safety is a right for every family, everywhere.
