Fate of 98% people hasn't changed: Tarique Rahman
BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman today urged voters to ensure victory for the 'sheaf of paddy' candidates across greater Noakhali. He was speaking at a rally in Feni Pilot School field, and referred to his family ties with the region.
“Over the last 15 years, there has been no real public representative anywhere in Bangladesh. The country is in this condition today because of that. We have seen that the fortunes of a small number of people have changed, but the fate of 98 percent of the people has not changed,” he said.
Emphasising the importance of the upcoming February 12 polls, Tarique said restoring democracy would bring back accountability and empower elected representatives to solve local problems.
Tarique pledged that a medical college would be established in Feni if BNP came to power. He also promised training and language education for youths seeking overseas employment, enabling them to secure better wages.
The rally followed his appearance at Chattogram’s Polo Ground, after which he arrived in Feni at 5:55 pm to address supporters.
