BNP in Satkhira, Barisal rejects Saifur
He leads 'vested quarters', says statements
Expressing surprise at the latest development in BNP hierarchy in which two key party posts were reshuffled and expulsions of some leaders overturned, BNP leaders in Satkhira and Barisal have expressed their 'full confidence' in the leadership of Khaleda Zia and rejected Saifur Rahman.
In a joint statement yesterday, front ranking leaders of Sstkhira BNP said the 'midnight drama' by some party leaders is nothing but a 'new conspiracy' to split the party, reports our Satkhira Correspondent.
The 'midnight drama' was staged by 'vested quarters' who benefited from BNP only to mislead grassroots level leaders and activists of the party, it said.
The statement signed by Satkhira district BNP member secretary advocate Samsuzzoha Bablu said grassroots leaders have no support to the 'man who took over chairperson's responsibility and allowed return of expelled leaders'.
Pointing finger at Saifur Rahman, the statement said he is serving the purpose of 'vested quarters'.
Satkhira district BNP leaders will not carry out orders issued by any one other than party chief Khaleda Zia, it asserted.
BNP is an organization of the people and they will not forgive those leaders who are 'hatching conspiracy' against BNP, the statement it said.
On contact, Debhata upazila BNP president Nazibar Rahman and general secretary Mahiuddin Siddique; Kalaroa upazila BNP president Bazlul Karim; convenors of Kaligonj, Assassuni and Shyamnagar upazila BNP Khoda Baksa, SM Akbar Hossain and Abdul Wahed respectively; Satkhira pourasava BNP president Imamul Islam Sharif; district Mahila Dal president Hosne Ara Ahmed; central Juba Dal leader Mudasserul Haque Huda; district Krishak Dal general secretary Abu Zahid Dablu; JASAS president advocate Syed Eklesar Ali Bachchu; Sechchasebak Dal president Ahsan Habib; Jatiyabadi Chhatra Dal president and general secretary Tajkin Ahmed Chisti and Hafizur Rahman also expressed their solidarity with Satkhira district BNP's statement.
In Baniasl, over 20 prominent leaders of the district and city units and their front organisations rejected Saifur Rahman as the acting party chief and extended their supports to Khondokar Delwar Hossain.
In a joint statement on Thursday, they said the procedure followed by Saifur Rahman was 'treacherous and a conspiracy against the party'.
Signatories to the statement included AHM Saleh, president- in-charge of district BNP; its secretary and district Jubo Dal president Nazrul Islam Rajon; Barisal city BNP president Mahmud Golam Salek and secretary Asaduzzaman Khasru; former party lawmaker Bilkis Aktar Shirin; district Mohila Dal secretary Shana Saleh; city Mohila Dal secretary Shamima Akbor; central Jubo Dal leaders Mahbubul Alam Nannu and Aktaruzzaman; district Jubo Dal vice president Khaza Md. Iqbal; district JCD president-in-charge Hafiz Ahmed Bablu.
They also claimed that leaders and activists of BNP and its front organisations in southern region rejected Saifur Rahman and Maj (retd) Hafizuddin.
