Will his dreams be fulfilled?
On the 17th of March 1920 our nation gave birth to a leader. His name was “Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.” He led our nation to victory during the liberation war in 1971. A war that claimed many lives in apocalyptical proportions. It was a war that left the world silenced by the brutal atrocities committed by the Pakistani military. It was also a war that gave birth to a nation under the leadership of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The nation was called Bangladesh.
The war left our country's infrastructure in a shambles. Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was named President and he started working for the development of our country. Development in all sectors- communication, power, health, education etc. His dream was to make this country a developed one. During his time as a leader he made his way to becoming one of the best leaders of all times.
On 15th March 1975, our leader and his family except two of his daughters were assassinated by a group of military officers. A cloud of sorrow and grief overshadowed the entire nation on the following day when the word broke out that our beloved leader was no more.
The assassins might have taken the life of our beloved leader but they couldn't take away the memories of him that were embedded deep in our collective psyche. Thirty-four years have passed since the death of our leader, but the questions still remain. Will the dreams of our leader be fulfilled? Will the voice of our leader be heard? Or will the dreams of our leader be buried with him? Those are the questions that we must ask ourselves.
