9 acquitted in EPR violation case
A court in Sylhet yesterday acquitted all the nine accused in a case filed under emergency power rules.
The additional chief judicial magistrate of Sylhet, AHM Habibur Rahman Bhuiyan, passed the judgment.
They are Minhaj Uddin, Hamza Helal, Faruque Ahmed, Abdur Rahim, Sadhon, Iqbal Ahmed, Faisal Ahmed, Alaur Rahman and Harun.
Kanaighat police filed the case against nine activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League and Juba League on charge of bringing out a procession in the night following July 24 of 2007 at Gachhbari Bazar of Kanaighat upazila protesting the arrest of Awami League chief Sheikh Hasina.
