FFs' memo to DC to withdraw 'controversial terms'
Freedom fighters (FFs) here, in a memorandum submitted to the Deputy Commissioner (DC) yesterday, urged for relaxation of terms and conditions for writing stories in a Victory Day (V-Day) souvenir to be published by the district administration on December 16.
The district administration authorities have given nine conditions to the freedom fighters for writing stories on the fiery days of the Liberation War of Bangladesh. They asked the freedom fighters to avoid attack on any person, organisation or religion.
Demanding withdrawal of 'controversial terms and conditions', the freedom fighters mentioned about the war criminals who were involved in genocide, arson, looting and rape during the Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971. The alleged that the war criminals were engaged in anti-liberation activities. They tried in vain to mislead people in name of religion, they said.
They posed a question to the administration asking why correct history of the war criminals would not be published in the souvenir. Mentioning serial no. 3 and 4 of the terms and conditions, they said these are 'most controversial terms.' They blamed the administration for trying to protect the war criminals by imposing the terms and conditions.
The freedom fighters threatened to boycott this year's Victory Day programmes if the terms and conditions are not relaxed.
Signatories to the memorandum were freedom fighters of different units.
