Fishing nets seized
Fishing nets worth about Tk 2 lakh were recovered from the greedy fishermen who were fishing in the Juri by poisoning river water on Monday.
However, none was arrested during recovery of the nets.
Being informed, a joint team of police and staff of the Fisheries and Environmental departments rushed to the spot and recovered 15 maunds of fishing nets, sources in Juri Upazila Fisheries Office said. Later, the nets were destroyed by setting fire to those, they said.
It is widely alleged that greedy fishermen were engaged in fishing in the Juri by poisoning water for a long time.
