'Missing' shotgun found at malkhana

An investigation team has found a US made sophisticated shotgun which was said to be missing from Bagerhat Sadar police station store room, police sources said.
Members of the probe committee found the gun during recounting of arms at the store room on Tuesday.
The wife of arrested president of Bagerhat district Jubo Dal Fakir Tarikul Islam, also chaiman of Satgambuj Union Parishad (UP) deposited the shotgun to the police station on February 14.
Bagerhat superintendent of police (SP) AKM Shahidur Rahman said two sub inspectors, SI Mofazzel Hossain and SI Shamsul Huda, who were in charge of the store room did not enlist the shotgun on the seizure list.
Actually, the arm was not missed, but it was found after rechecking the store room. This happened due to negligence in duties of the two SIs who were already closed to police lines, the SP said.
Action will be taken against them following submission of a report by the three-member investigation committee headed by Additional SP Miraj Ahmed, he added.
